Wellness & Entertainment

Wellness sits at the core of The Painswick Retreat. Within Serenity’s dedicated spa space, guests can unwind in the infrared sauna, experience full-body medical-grade red light therapy, relax in zero gravity massage chairs and restore in the six-person hydrotherapy hot tub . A fully equipped gym supports movement and strength, while chromotherapy lighting in selected bedrooms enhances deep, restorative sleep

Entertainment spaces are designed for gathering without compromising atmosphere. The vaulted stone cellar bar offers cocktail facilities alongside foosball and darts for relaxed evenings.

Additional recreation includes a convertible pool and air hockey table, games consoles, board games and curated library spaces, creating a retreat that balances restoration with meaningful connection.

Dining

The Retreat is designed to cater effortlessly for groups. Two fully equipped kitchens feature range cookers, double ovens, dishwashers, fridge freezers, coffee machines and Bibo water systems, making everything from relaxed breakfasts to large-scale catering seamless.

Generous preparation space and integrated appliances ensure both private chefs and guests can cook comfortably and efficiently.

For shared meals, multiple dining areas culminate in a private banqueting hall seating up to 24 guests — ideal for celebratory dinners, hosted events or long, convivial suppers. Additional dining tables and a convertible dining/games space provide flexibility, whether gathering the whole group together or enjoying smaller, informal meals throughout the Retreat.

Restoration

Across the Retreat, bedrooms are calm, characterful and intentionally uncluttered, blending centuries-old architecture with quiet contemporary comfort. Exposed oak beams, honeyed Cotswold stone and soft neutral palettes create a sense of warmth and stillness, while generous proportions and natural light enhance the feeling of space. Each room is centred around a premium hybrid mattress dressed in crisp white linens, complemented by thoughtful lighting, smart TVs and carefully considered furnishings that allow the historic fabric of the buildings to remain the focal point.

Accommodation is arranged across Serenity and Tranquillity House, offering a combination of kingsize and double bedrooms, several with elevated village or valley views and distinctive architectural details such as curved windows and mezzanine levels. Selected bedrooms incorporate chromotherapy lighting to support deeper rest, while robes, quality towels and integrated storage ensure every stay feels both restorative and effortlessly practical.

Bathrooms are finished in warm stone and natural textures, pairing contemporary fittings with timeless materials. Walk-in rainfall showers, generous shower enclosures and elegant basins provide a refined, hotel-level experience, while selected rooms also benefit from statement bathtubs designed for long, unhurried soaks.Heated towel rails, considered lighting and clean-lined cabinetry complete spaces that feel fresh, private and quietly luxurious.

Painswick – Queen of the Cotswolds

Set in the very heart of Painswick, often known as the “Queen of the Cotswolds,” the Retreat places guests within one of England’s most picturesque and characterful villages. Honey-coloured stone cottages, independent cafés, traditional country pubs and artisan shops line its gentle streets, while the remarkable churchyard of St Mary’s — with its famous yew trees — offers a uniquely atmospheric setting for quiet morning strolls.

From the doorstep, village life unfolds at an unhurried pace, inviting guests to wander, linger and settle into the rhythm of the Cotswolds.

Beyond the village, rolling hills and far-reaching valleys stretch across the surrounding countryside, with direct access to scenic walking routes including the Cotswold Way. Panoramic escarpment views, woodland paths and patchwork farmland provide an ever-changing backdrop for walking, running or simply exploring. Here, rural beauty and historic charm sit side by side — offering both restorative calm and the simple pleasures of English country life.
